Council has received enquiries regarding the existing parking restrictions along the western side of Merinda Street.

The current restriction is:

No Parking 9:00am–5:30pm Monday to Friday and 8:00am–12:00pm Saturdays

Merinda Street is a relatively narrow local road. Concerns have been raised about balancing parking availability with maintaining safe vehicle access, particularly in proximity to residential driveways.

Council has therefore reviewed the current arrangement to determine whether adjustments may be appropriate.

What is being proposed?

Council is consulting with affected residents on the following options:

Option 1: Revert the existing ‘No Parking’ section on the western side of the street to unrestricted parking.

Option 2: Retain a reduced ‘No Parking’ section of approximately 15 metres opposite the the driveways at No. 2 Merinda Street, with the remaining section reverted to unrestricted parking.

The intent of Option 2 is to maintain necessary clearance opposite the driveways while restoring parking where feasible.

Benefits of the proposal

  • Improve parking availability for residents and visitors.
  • Maintain appropriate clearance opposite driveways on a narrow street.
  • Improve vehicle maneuverability and reduce conflict.
  • Provide a balanced outcome between safety and parking demand.
