Council’s Inclusive Communities Grants Program proposes a one-off grant initiative for Lane Cove hospitality venues to add some sequins and sparkle to their spaces by hosting a professional drag entertainer during Pride Month (June) 2026.
Picture this: 🎱 Drag bingo 🎤 A café with a little cabaret 💃 A lip-syncing extravaganza 🍦 Or an ice cream server dishing out double scoops and double entendres
This isn’t just glitter for glitter’s sake. Far from frivolous, this program is a creative way to boost local business, increase foot traffic, and align proudly with Council’s Social Inclusion Strategy by showing support and safe spaces for our LGBTQIA+ community during Pride Month.
Drag is an internationally recognised art form blending theatre, fashion, music, and comedy. More than anything, drag is about community participation. It’s joyful, expressive, and above all its inclusive.
What better way to send a clear message that diversity is welcome in Lane Cove.
Council is seeking community feedback on this proposed Inclusive Communities Grants Program, a one-off initiative to support local hospitality venues to host professional drag performances during Pride Month (June) 2026. As this is a new grant program and budget initiative, Council is placing it on public exhibition in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993 and Council’s Community Engagement Strategy. All submissions will be considered before Council makes a final decision. For further information on Inclusive Communities Grants please review linked documents:
