Tambourine Bay Road ‘No Parking’ Opposite Sera Street

Council is seeking your feedback on a proposal to remove parking along a section of Tambourine Bay Road opposite the Sera Street intersection.

Council has observed northbound cars and buses crossing the Tambourine Bay Road centreline when driving past cars parked along Tambourine Bay Road opposite Sera Street. This is not safe particularly for southbound vehicles and cars turning from Sera Street into Tambourine Bay Road.

Cars parked along Tambourine Bay Road opposite Sera Street often park half on the road and half on the verge to lessen their impact on northbound vehicles. NSW Road Rules state that it is illegal to park, or partially park, on the roadway verge.

What is being proposed?

Council is proposing to install ‘No Parking’ signs opposite house numbers 5, 7, 9 and 9A on the western side of Tambourine Bay Road. Unrestricted on-street parking would still be permitted opposite house numbers 11 & 13.

Benefits of the proposal

  • Reduce the need for vehicles to cross the Tambourine Bay Road centerline opposite the Sera Street intersection.
  • Improve the safety for southbound traffic and for vehicles turning to and from Tambourine Bay Road at the Sera Street intersection.
  • Maintain visibility and safety for all road users around the intersection.

Proposed changing to parking restrictions

Residents can monitor the progress of the proposal by reviewing the agenda of the Traffic Committee meeting. Meetings are typically held every two months and published on Council’s website.

The agenda contains projects that, following community consultation, are progressed to the Traffic Committee for consideration and Council for a final decision. The Traffic Committee agendas and minutes can be accessed by the link on this page.
