Proposed Relocation of Bus Stop Riverview Street, Riverview

Lane Cove Council has received a request to relocate the existing bus stop outside No. 86 Riverview Street and is seeking community feedback.

Council has made several improvements to bus operations and passenger safety along Riverview Street in recent years:

• 2019 - The bus stop was relocated approximately 16 metres north, with associated parking restrictions introduced, after the bus operator raised concerns about safe manoeuvring through the narrow, curved section of the street.
• 2023 - At Busways' request, the 'No Parking; Saturday 7:00am–7:00pm' restriction was upgraded to 'No Stopping; Saturday 7:00am–7:00pm' following ongoing reports of vehicles obstructing buses and causing service diversions.

A recent review has identified a further concern: the current stop has limited waiting space due to a boundary fence, which is particularly problematic during school peak periods when student numbers are high.

What is being proposed?

Council proposes to:

1. Relocate the bus stop from outside No. 86 Riverview Street to a location approximately opposite No. 97 Riverview Street, where a wider verge is available; and
2. Replace the existing bus zone outside No. 86 with a 'No Stopping; Saturday 7:00am–7:00pm' restriction to prevent vehicles from parking in an area that could impede bus movements, particularly during busy periods associated with nearby recreational activities.
