Consultation on Proposed Fees – Civic Centre Grand Piano Hire

Overview

Lane Cove Council is proposing to introduce a new community piano hire program at the Civic Centre foyer.
The initiative would allow community members, teachers and students to hire the Judy Bailey OAM Concert Grand Piano for use during evenings and weekends, when the space is otherwise not in use.

This proposal aims to:

• Activate an underused civic space;
• Broaden access to high-quality musical instruments; and
• Honour Judy Bailey OAM’s contribution to Lane Cove’s musical life.

The hire scheme will support the ongoing tuning and maintenance of the piano while remaining affordable for community use.

Next Steps

All feedback received will be reviewed before the proposed fees are considered for adoption in Council’s next review of Fees and Charges.
If supported, the piano hire program will commence in early 2026.
