Council has received concerns regarding traffic safety and vehicle access along Phoenix Street, particularly in the vicinity of Nos. 28–30. The road is relatively narrow, and when vehicles are parked on both sides, it restricts the available carriageway width.
Recently, an incident was reported where vehicles had difficulty passing due to parked cars on either side of the road. Observations also indicate that parking demand on this section of Phoenix Street is generally low outside peak periods, with many vehicles belonging to commuters or visitors rather than residents.
What is being proposed?
Council is proposing to install ‘No Stopping’ restrictions on the eastern side of Phoenix Street, between Nos. 28–30, operating at all times.
Parking will continue to be available on the opposite side of the street.
Benefits of the proposal
Improve safety by reducing conflicts between opposing vehicles
Provide sufficient road width for vehicles to pass safely
Reduce the likelihood of further incidents in this constrained section
Maintain reasonable parking access on the opposite side of the road
