Tambourine Bay Road - No 3T Trucks

Lane Cove Council wants to hear your views on a proposal to reduce truck traffic on Tambourine Bay Road and Cox Lane.

What's Being Proposed?

Lane Cove Council is proposing to implement a “No Trucks Over 3t” on Tambourine Bay Road and Cox Ln from River Road to Epping Road. The proposal is to discourage trucks using these roads as a short-cut between River Road and Epping Road.

The truck prohibition will apply to all trucks over 3-tonne unless they have an origin or destination along these roads, or if there isn't an alternative route to reach their destination. The prohibition won't apply to bus services.

This means:

  1. Installing 'No Trucks' signs at key entry points:
    • River Road
    • Burns Bay Road
    • Epping Road
  2. Discouraging trucks from using these streets as a shortcut between River Road and Epping Road.
  3. Allowing exceptions for trucks that need local access or have no alternative route.

Why Are We Considering This?

  • Many residents have told us they're concerned about truck noise and speed on these streets.
  • Our surveys show that 5.47% of traffic on Cox Lane is trucks.
  • Speed cushions haven't fully solved the problem – some residents say they've made truck noise worse.

How Might This Affect You?

If implemented, you might notice:

  • Fewer trucks on Tambourine Bay Road and Cox Lane
  • Less noise from heavy vehicles
  • Potentially safer conditions for pedestrians and cyclists
