Lime shared e-bikes arrived in Lane Cove in July 2026, and in September, more than 1,400 riders took over 3,500 trips across the area.
Shared e-bikes can be an affordable and sustainable way to get around, but we know some residents have concerns, particularly about bikes left blocking footpaths.
New NSW regulations for shared e-bikes are now being rolled out in stages, and Council is working within the timeframes and guidance set by Transport for NSW. In the meantime, we’re running a community education campaign and want to hear what you think about Lime in Lane Cove.
Tell us what you think
Whether you’ve ridden a Lime bike or not, we’d like to know:
What’s working well
What could be improved
Whether there are hotspots or problem areas in Lane Cove that need more attention
The survey takes about 3 minutes to complete.
How your feedback will be used
Your feedback, along with input from Council’s Bike Committee, Sustainability Advisory Committee and Access and Age-Friendly Committee, will be reported to Council at its November meeting. It will help shape:
Where dedicated e-bike parking zones are created
Where enforcement efforts are focused
How Council works with Lime and other shared e-bike operators in the future
How Council communicates and educates the community on safe usage as shared micromobility evolves
What Council is already doing
Working with Lime under new NSW Government regulations that set minimum standards for shared bike operators
Monitoring feedback on whether operators are removing bikes blocking a footpath or access point within 3 hours when reported
Investigating additional dedicated parking zones near shops, cafés, parks and sporting fields
Applying for up to $200,000 in NSW Government funding for parking bays and clearing footpaths
