Consultation has concluded
We invite the community to provide feedback on the Draft Councillor and Staff Interaction Policy. This policy has been developed with regard to the OLG Model Interaction Policy and legal advice provided by experts.
Background
In 2022, the Office of Local Government released the Model Councillor and Staff Interaction Policy (the ‘Model Policy’). The Model Policy was developed following two rounds of consultation with the local government sector and represents a ‘best practice’ approach. The model policy is not mandatory, and Councils are free to choose whether they use it or adapt it to suit their own purposes. The development of the Draft Councillor and Staff Interaction Policy has been the subject of several resolutions passed by Council and discussions with Councillors over the past 9 months.
