Council consulted with the community on proposed amendments to the Lane Cove Development Control Plan (DCP)

The proposed amendments addressed:

  • Sustainability initiatives related to climate change and emission reductions within Lane Cove;
  • Any errors in punctuation, grammar, and structure, as well as update references to legislation; and
  • Updates to existing State and Council policies, in particular the:
    • State Environmental Planning Policy (Sustainable Buildings (SB SEPP);
    • State Environmental Planning Policy (Building Sustainability Index: BASIX); 
    • Council’s Urban Forest Strategy;
    • Local Housing Policy; and
    • State Government changes to the business zones. 

The Parts of the DCP with proposed amendments were:

  • Part B - General Controls
  • Part C - Residential Development
  • Part C - Residential Localities
  • Part D - Commercial/Mixed Use Development
  • Part D - Commercial Mixed Use Localities
  • Part H - Bushland Protection
  • Part J - Landscaping
  • Part Q - Waste Management & Minimisation
  • Environmental Sustainability (this is a new part)
  • Dictionary 

The proposed amendments are highlighted within each corresponding document found in the 'Documents' section on the right hand side of this page.

The amendments due to policy changes are outlined in the 'Table of Policy Changes' document, under the Important Links section.

Please note that the new Environmental Sustainability Part is supported by a consultant (Flux) report, this can be found in the Documents section.

This consultation closed on 13 August 2023.

Update: Council adopted the proposed Development Control Plan amendments at its Ordinary Meeting on 21 September 2023. They have since been published on Council's website.
