Council has been invited to apply for Australian Government funding under the Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program (MLCIP) (2025 Federal Election commitments and the 2025–26 Budget). In preparation, Lane Cove Council is proposing a coordinated network of cultural spaces, infrastructure and platforms across the LGA to increase equitable access to arts and cultural opportunities, grow local creative industries, and enliven public spaces year‑round.
What is being proposed:
Gallery Lane Cove Rooftop Outdoor Room – An all‑weather rooftop space for arts education, small performances and community workshops.
Gallery Lane Cove Studios (Car Park Conversion) – 3–6 flexible studios/workshop spaces to support artists‑in‑residence and community creative learning (with alternative options including modular container studios or repurposing the former Centre House building).
Plug‑and‑Play Infrastructure – Permanent power and AV points in key parks and public spaces to enable low‑cost, generator‑free performances and events.
Visual Artwalk – A trail of modular plinths for sculpture and community‑created artworks across the village and neighbourhood hubs.
Digital Art Trail (Smart Cultural Signage) – Weather‑resistant digital displays showing rotating digital art and dynamic Council messaging.
24 Hour Library – Installation of 24-hour loans through library lockers in key locations and a trial program of unstaffed extended hours for Greenwich Library and study spaces.
