Why should I join a committee?
Being part of an advisory committee enables you to actively contribute to Council decision making, by sharing your knowledge and interests.
Can I join more than one committee?
You may nominate for more than one committee. Please read the Committee charters to assess what is required in each committee.
How does Council select who will be on the Committee
Council’s Selection Committee – made up of Councillors and the General Manager – determines the committee membership
How many meetings will I be required to attend? When will they be held?
Please refer to the Committee charter/s – depending upon the committee, meetings may be quarterly, monthly or in between.
Can I attend meetings via Zoom?
Meetings are generally held on site; however Council can accommodate any accessibility requirements committee members may have.
Will the Committees have decision making powers?
Advisory Committees do not have any delegated decision making powers – they advise and inform Council.
What can I expect from a typical meeting?
There will be an agenda, minutes and a chairperson who will facilitate each meeting. Meetings are generally 1.5 hour or less.
