Construction Scheduled!

Council is pleased to announce that the proposed playground upgrade is scheduled to commence shortly.

Contractors will begin the demolition phase of the playground in the week starting Monday 30 March and are estimated to finish construction in late May 2026 (weather permitting).

Unfortunately, the playground area and the through site access to Burns Bay Road, will be closed to the public during the construction period for safety reasons. Council will do our best to limit any inconvenience this may cause and apologise for any disruption to your usual activities.

We look forward the sharing the new playground with you soon. For the time being, the nearest playgrounds to use during the closure of Charlish Playground include: Nichols Reserve, Finlayson Street, Cullen Street Reserve and Henley Playground.

Concept Design

A design has been developed following site analysis and review of the community's feedback. The new playground will take a smaller footprint to provide a larger open space for running and unstructured play. The existing play unit and swings will be replaced with new equipment, that is more consolidated but retains much of the core features of the previous playground, including a slide, climbing, balancing, and a shopfront feature. The upgrade will accommodate longer and more pleasant visits to the park with an improved sitting area, accessible drinking fountain, planting and a footpath to enable easier pram access.
