What issues is the sand causing exactly?
How long has Council been aware of these issues?
Council has encountered maintenance issues regarding sand across the facility since installation. Various strategies have been attempted to address these concerns however it has become apparent that it is not feasible to maintain the sandpit in its current form.
Why did Council choose bark play mulch for an interim solution?
Bark play mulch provides similar play value for children and is a relatively quick process to install in the current playspace whilst we collect feedback from the community regarding the evolution of the space. This ensures minimal disruption to the community whilst addressing the immediate issues in the short term.
How long will it take to upgrade the area permanently?
We anticipate that following initial community consultation, design and documentation could take approximately 12months with construction aiming to begin in mid 2026
