Lane Cove is renewing its 2019 Bicycle Plan. The 2026 Bicycle Plan sets out an updated vision for cycling in Lane Cove and an action plan for our priority routes over the next 10 years.
Earlier this year, the community helped shape the draft Plan through an online survey, interactive map, pop-up stall, community workshop and Bicycle Advisory Committee workshop. We received more than 500 contributions, including 281 survey responses and 242 pins on the interactive map. Thank you to everyone who took part.
At its meeting on 24 September, Council resolved to place the Draft Bicycle Plan on public exhibition. The Plan is now open for community feedback for six weeks, until Monday 9 November 2026.
What's in the draft Plan?
The draft Plan proposes:
A connected network of regional, local and neighbourhood bike routes, growing from 27.5km to over 48km
A low-speed, people-focused shared space on Longueville Road in the Lane Cove Village
Separated bike lanes along key corridors, including River Road and Burns Bay Road
Quietways: calmer local streets where people can ride safely at 30km/h
Safer crossings, more bike parking, and programs to support riding to school
A target to more than double the share of trips made by bike by 2036

Written submissions You can also make a written submission by email to service@lanecove.nsw.gov.au or by post to 48 Longueville Road Lane Cove 2066, quoting "Draft Bicycle Plan".
What happens next?
Once public exhibition closes, all feedback will be reviewed and used to fine-tune the Plan's final recommendations. The final Bicycle Plan will then be reported to Council for adoption.

This is an opportunity for the community to review the draft Bicycle Plan and provide feedback on it. The draft Bicycle Plan will be referred to a Council meeting for endorsement for a 6-week public exhibition period from 28 September - 9 November 2026.
